Public Event: Anyone can come
Event Description
“Street Photography” Solo Photography Exhibition, August 12th to 17th, 2008.
Julian Hebbrecht is a Belgian photographer living in Japan for more than 20 years. He started taking photos and developing his own film in 1961. Mr. Hebbrecht has an extensive range of experience in the arts, he became a qualified goldsmith and art teacher in the Netherlands prior to his arrival in Japan. Mr. Hebbrecht takes all of his photographs in color, and then converts them to B&W using Photoshop for complete control over the tones in the final results.
For the past two years, Mr. Hebbrecht has been focusing on his new series "Street Photography", taking photos of people on the street, of all ages and walks of life. In this new series, Mr. Hebbrecht seeks to capture the beauty in things and people, whether they are young and cool, old or homeless. He seeks not to reproduce what is already visible, but works to make things visible by showing them in a different way. Mr. Hebbrecht’s pictures are always left untitled. He believes pictures should speak for themselves. As he puts it “Is one picture not worth a thousand words?”
Mr. Hebbrecht has been a regular guest speaker at the Design Matters lecture series at the Shinsaibashi Apple Store for the past two years.
